The March of the Atlanteans is one of the foundational events in Atlantean mythology. It begins with the imprisonment of Atlas by the Lansinarians and the exile of the Atlanteans into the wilderness beyond the Auroral Curtin. There then follows a millennium of wandering by the small tribe of Atlanteans as they learn to fend for themselves in the wilderness, guided by visions sent by the Old God. These visions taught them to hunt, fish, and use magical energies to guard themselves and others.

The March symbolically shows the Atlanteans expelled from the false paradise of Lansinar, losing the Grace of Lansinar (wrestling with issues of mortality), and finally making it to the true promised land of Atlantis itself. Along the way, Cleito of Lansinar serves as a Holy Mother figure who holds the tribe together against the infighting of her sons and grandsons, yet is destined to die shortly after arriving in that paradise.
